As in every Gothic church, mathematical proportions play a key role in the architecture of our Cathedral. Gearing all elements to each other creates a harmonious whole. Note how the dimensions of the construction in front of you are all multiples of three.
Another crucial element is light. The orientation to the east aligns the building with the sunset, the light that dispels the darkness. The original brightly coloured stained glass windows were lost in the course of the centuries but even now people are moved by the interplay of light in this enchanting space.

The primary function of every church is to be a ‘House of God’. The biblical God, the God of Jesus calls this place home.
